Great camping, nice activities, close to good restaurants
We camped at Blue Springs and had an excellent stay in our popup camper. The site we stayed at was roomy, shaded, and felt remote. We rarely heard any other campers during our stay and overall it was quiet and peaceful....exactly what we look for in a camping trip.
As far as the park went, the trick for Blue Springs is to time your activities. If you want to kayak/canoe, then go first thing at 8AM. You can paddle to the headsprings at that time and will beat the crowds. After that, you can paddle around the St. Johns River (the area is wake-free). If you want to tube or swim the river, definitely wait until noon, because the boats have to be off the spring by 11AM. Also, we went by in the evening, 7PM, and it was very quiet at the springs.
They have a hike and a rails-to-trails that we did not make it to but will be back to experience that.
As far as location, downtown Deland is close by and has nice restaurants and activities.
Great place. And we are excited to plan another trip.
